For Sale - 1990 Jaguar XJS V12 California Converti...
Author Last Post
Greetings! I have decided to sell my 1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible Collection Edition. This is the fourth XJS that I have owned, and definitely the finest one! 1990 was the final full year of production of this model with the beautiful round English headlights, shortened tail lights, and of course the final refinement of the 5.3 V12 engine. 1990 was the first year to introduce a driver's airbag, collapsible column and tilting steering wheel. The car is finished in Olde English White with tan Connolly hides and contrasting piping, considered by many enthusiasts to be one of the most sought out colour combinations!. The interior is totally original and in spectacular condition. The seats show beautiful natural patina for a car of its age, but still look fresh and new. The wilton carpeting and beautiful German tan canvas top show perfectly. The car has fewer than 93,000 miles and has been cherished by only one family in Walnut Creek, CA since new. This is an unaltered/unrestored car. It enjoys all of its original paint, interior, carpeting, glass, radio, etc. The door panels have never been cut so as to instal larger speakers. I have seen them with boom boxes on the rear sill! The trunk lid or rear quarter have never been drilled into to instal an aftermarket antenna. The body has never seen a re-sprayed. The car enjoys its original paint throughout including the hood, door jams, engine compartment, and trunk areas. Gratefully there has never been fitted with a Leaping Jaguar hood emblem drilled into the metal! Again this is just a great looking car with the proper amount of wear and use. Of course, the car has never had an accident, nor has it ever been rusted. Cars from California look and drive like non others! Tight, quick and with flawless performance.

Thankfully, the car enjoys its original lattice style 15 inch wheels with matching brand-new tires, including the spare. Please do not consider any after market wheels as the beautiful factory ride is lost forever. Even chromed wheels are prone to air leaks, rust, and alter the beautiful factory ride. Especially in these parts of the country, I would stay away from wheel change overs. The car has never been bastardized by the installation of body side moldings, CB or cell antennas, and most importantly, the car was never fitted with those god awful fender flare trim moldings. I owned one last year and it cost me over $1500 to remove those fender trims. They trap water and cause rust. The windows have never been tinted. The electric antenna is a correct one, and at a cost of $400, not a cheap replacement. Always try to find original examples, free from rust and accidents. This is just a wonderful car to watch appreciate, and enjoy as time passes. When driving this hand built British classic roadster, one can easily understand and appreciate its $60,000 list price from 1990.

On the subject of books, tools and records. I have them all. I have the original window sticker of over $60000. Included is every bill and every service from day one to the latest oil change. Total provenance!

Feel free to contact me at (914) 403-1768. The car is located in the scenic hamlet of Bedford Village, NY, just west of Stamford, CT. For you New Yorkers, you might be comforted by the fact that Bedford lies only 42 miles north of Times Square. Tools, owners manual, boot, boot bag, tire cover, etc., all included. I am including the original window sticker ($60000 plus) Factory work shop manual, and a complete mechanical history of every repair from day one including all warranty works. This is a totally documented car. 100%. In closing, I am a seasoned collector of only fine cars. I began my hobby in 1978 when as a 24 year old man, I had the good fortune to study with one of the greats, Ed Jurist, owner of the Vintage Car Store in Nyack NY. Mr. Jurist taught me life lessons. Only start with good examples, and with marques and models which inspire emotion to its owner. This is why all these years later I follow his advice: "Keep it original and as unrestored as possible."

On the subject of possible trades, if you have an interesting trade, car or motorcycle, feel free to share it with me.

If you have transportation needs, feel free to contact my dear friend, Dave Lempert of Transport Masters in Boca Raton, FL. He will gladly give you a free estimate for professional and courteous service. (561) 482-7789. Come and see the car or send a representative to check it out. You will not be disappointed. Thank you, John Louis. (914) 403-1768
