On Saturday 13th October, JCSNE will be holding our annual Fall driving tour in the NW corner of Connecticut, combined with visits to a couple of local vineyards and lunch in a local restaurant. We are still working on the final details of the route, and will post the details here and email out to everyone who has registered

Commuter Parking Lot (Christopher Road, Torrington, CT 06790; Ext 44 Route 8)

We will meet at the Commuter Parking Lot in Torrington (opposite Burger King) at 10:15am. We will depart at 10:30, and head to Goshen.

Sunset Meadows Vineyards (2205, 599 Old Middle St, Goshen, CT 06756).

We will arrive at 11:00am, for a tasting arranged for our group, aiming for a departure soon after noon.

Salt Water Grille (26 Commons Drive Litchfield, CT 06759)

We expect to arrive at the Salt Water Grille for lunch at 12:30, after a short drive.

This is the same restaurant that welcomed us for lunch last year; we decided to return due to the great feedback we received, and the fact that they love old cars!

Driving Tour

After lunch we plan to leave Litchfield, heading West to Cornwall Bridge (one of the few remaining covered bridges in CT), then head South down scenic Route 7, before heading back towards the East. We are still planning the exact route, to take into account some of the most scenic minor roads in the state, but expect this to be about an 90 minute drive, with an bathroom break at the Lake Waramaug State Park.

Hawk Ridge Winery (28 Plungis Rd., Watertown, CT 06795)

After our driving tour we will arrive at our second winery, Hawk Ridge. They have superb wines, and on previous visits many of our members have re-stocked their cellars for the winter!. During the afternoon (starting at 3pm) they will have live music, so weather permitting it should be great to hang out on their porch or on blanket on the grass and mellow to the music.

If there's demand, after Hawk Ridge we may head back North to Haight-Brown in Litchfield.
