Looking for a Jaguar Mechanic recommendation near ...
Author Last Post
First let me say, what an AWESOME group, I have had 15 private emails since I posted this last night, and people have even given me their cells to call them.  Just to document for future people looking for the a mechanic, here are the responses:

- Motorcars Inc, Plainville - 10 Recommendations, people are willing to drive over an hour to use them
- Black Horse, Bridgeport - 2 Recommendations

The following each had 1 recommendation:
- J & J, Westport, member said my experience was not typical and I should try them again
- Nino's Performance, Bethany
- British Motorcars, Norwalk
- White Plains Jaguar, White Plains
- JP Motors, Woodbridge

I know this adds up to more than 15, some people recommended more than 1!

Also, Auto Tech in Stamford was specifically NOT recommended.

So, based on this, I have already called Motorcars Inc and plan to drive up there today to meet them!

Thanks everyone!

Steve: I would suggest that the travel to Motorcars may well be worth it. Dean Cusano there knows his way well around older and vintage Jags, and in particular XJSs and E-Types. He autocrosses with great success in an XJS, often having been fastest overall in the JCNA national championship.

I am a long-time customer of Motorcars, having bought the best part of a dozen cars from them, most recently (two days ago) a 1989 XJS. All of my cars are serviced at Motorcars. I hold Dean and Joe, and the rest of their crew, in the highest of regard.

Cordially,
Doug Gillette

Sorry to be so didactic, but you would be a fool to go anywhere other than MotorcarsInc: it's that simple. Get AAA Plus, and you can be towed, free, to any of these places, including Plainville.  This is a true full-sevice shop: restoration, repairs, sales, and storage. I cannot say enough about Dean Cusano: he is honest and true, which is extremely rare, especially amongst car dealers. But you already knew that. He has a parts inventory that is unsurpassed, save for SNJ Barrett. Ask anyone who has dealt with him.  Not that it helps you directly, but he is a true enthusiast, not just a businessman, and currently holds the Slalom record for the US, in a Jag he built himself. IMHO, it's unarguable, no matter where you live. Do yourself the favor of, at least, talking to him.

Hello,

I bought my fist Jaguar last year, a new 2015 XF, great car, but I always wanted an older one.  So at Barrett-Jackson at Mohegan Sun, I bought a 1990 XJS V12 convertible.   Now I want to get it checked out and make sure I avoid any problems.  I have had BMWs for the last 20 years and in warranty I take them to the dealer and out of it I have had a great guy to too take care of them, but that was in Philly.  I am looking for the same close to Miflord, CT.  I looked on the Jaguar discussion group and J&J in Westport had good reviews,  I emailed them and no response , then I called them and was told I would get a call back and they never did. I don't plan to beg to get service, so I am looking for other suggestions.

In order of closeness, I found these on Jagshops.com, but they do not have any reviews, so any info you have would be appreciated.

European Auto Repair – Norwalk  http://www.jagshops.com/connecticut/european-auto-center-repair

Auto Tech Foreign Car Service   http://www.jagshops.com/connecticut/auto-tech-foreign-car-service-stamford-ct

Motorcars Inc in Plainville had great reviews, but they are an hour away, so I would rather be closer.  Any help would be appreciated.
